Lycopodium – Club moss

Lycopodium can produce huge fire columns, fireballs and streaks.

For indoor shows Lycopodium is the safest way to display flame effects, it has been used for centuries and is popular on stages and authorities, as opposed to propane effects. However, the quality of this natural product is fluctuating and very expensive.

Even a persistent rumor continues: “Lycoflames are a cold fire”. This is, of course, complete nonsense, fire is always hot. Only the flame temperatures are about 200 ° C colder than liquid or gas flames at about 500 ° C.

The so-called Lyco funnel is used to produce brachial flame balls. This makes it possible to produce fireballs up to 15m high, depending on the quantity. The fireball has a nice orange color. Lyco funnels need only a relatively small safety distance to people and are therefore used a lot in the action film area or where the props require it.
